CHATTANOOGA LOOKOUTS

AT&T Field

Chattanooga, TNEst. 20006,860 seatsAA

AT&T Field sits on the Tennessee River beneath Lookout Mountain — the 2,391-foot ridge where Confederate and Union forces fought the 1863 Battle Above the Clouds. The Lookouts have one of the oldest team names in the minor leagues (1885) — only the Buffalo Bisons are older. Chattanooga is a city of extraordinary geographic drama.

Architecture & History

AT&T Field opened in 2000 as BellSouth Park, replacing the historic Engel Stadium. Located on the south bank of the Tennessee River in downtown Chattanooga, it anchors the city's revitalized riverfront district.

The Lookouts franchise dates to 1885, making it one of the oldest in minor league baseball. The current park was designed to maximize views of Lookout Mountain, which rises dramatically beyond the outfield.

Chattanooga's transformation from industrial hub to outdoor-recreation destination is reflected in the ballpark's surroundings—the Tennessee Riverwalk, Walnut Street pedestrian bridge, and Coolidge Park are all within walking distance.

Insider Tips

01

The One Thing

Order the Champy's fried chicken and a Hutton & Smith IPA and find a seat with Lookout Mountain visible to your southwest. The mountain where the Battle Above the Clouds was fought in 1863 is directly in your sight line.

02

Lookout Mountain

Drive to Point Park on Lookout Mountain before the game. The battlefield, the cannon positions, and the view of the Tennessee River making its bend through the ridges below is one of the great geographic panoramas.

03

Moon Pie

The Moon Pie was invented at Chattanooga Bakery in 1917. Order one at AT&T Field. It is $1.25 and was invented here. The correct pairing is an RC Cola. This is not optional.

04

Parking Reality

AT&T Field has parking lots in the Power Alley area and street parking on the north shore of the Tennessee River. The park is accessible and downtown Chattanooga is compact.

05

Best Value Seat

Third base lower grandstand — Lookout Mountain visible to the southwest, Tennessee River beyond the right field wall, and the most complete geographic context for the game.
