DURHAM BULLS
Durham Bulls Athletic Park
The park that 'Bull Durham' made famous before it was built, and that delivers on the promise now that it exists. Durham Bulls Athletic Park opened in 1995 and is the most storied minor league ballpark in America — a genuine baseball town, a renovated tobacco-warehouse downtown, and a mechanical bull beyond the left field wall that snorts smoke when a Bull hits a home run.

Architecture & History
Durham Bulls Athletic Park was designed by Odell Associates and opened April 1, 1995, replacing the original Durham Athletic Park — the cramped, beloved ballpark featured in the 1988 film 'Bull Durham.' The original park, while immortalised by Kevin Costner and Susan Sarandon, was genuinely too small for the Bulls' growing fanbase and the Triple-A product.
The new park was built with the original park's spirit in mind: brick and steel, exposed structure, intimate sight lines, and the mechanical bull beyond the left-center field wall that snorts smoke from its nostrils on every Durham Bulls home run.
Durham has transformed from a tobacco-industry city into one of the South's most dynamic mid-sized cities. DBAP sits in the American Tobacco Historic District, adjacent to the American Tobacco Campus development on the original Lucky Strike factory complex.
