RENO ACES
Greater Nevada Field
The downtown Reno ballpark at 4,400 feet in the high desert of the Great Basin, with the Sierra Nevada range visible to the west and the Truckee River a block away. Greater Nevada Field opened in 2009 on the Virginia Street corridor and has become a catalyst for Reno's downtown revitalisation. The park's most specific cultural identity is Basque — the Basque sheepherder community that settled Nevada's high desert in the 1890s left a food tradition centred on lamb, garlic, and the Picon Punch that persists in Reno's restaurants and at this ballpark.
