FORT WAYNE TINCAPS
Parkview Field
Parkview Field is consistently rated one of the best minor league parks in America — a 2009 construction in downtown Fort Wayne, Indiana that won the Ballpark Digest award for best new ballpark. The TinCaps name references Johnny Appleseed — born John Chapman — who is buried in Fort Wayne's Johnny Appleseed Park and who wore a tin cooking pot as a hat while planting apple trees across Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois in the early 19th century. The park anchors Fort Wayne's downtown revival and is the architectural jewel of the Padres' minor league system.

The Food

Johnny Appleseed — buried in Fort Wayne's Archer-Griswold Memorial Park — planted apple orchards across Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois. Fort Wayne is his burial city and the city whose team wears his tin hat. An apple pie — made from Indiana apples, baked daily — is the most historically specific food at any High-A park in the country.
