MONTGOMERY BISCUITS

Riverwalk Stadium

Montgomery, ALEst. 20047,000 seatsAA

Riverwalk Stadium sits on the Alabama River in downtown Montgomery — the state capital, the Cradle of the Confederacy, the birthplace of the modern civil rights movement. Rosa Parks refused to give up her bus seat in Montgomery in 1955; Martin Luther King Jr. pastored Dexter Avenue Baptist Church here. The Biscuits name is simultaneously the greatest minor league team name in America and a direct reference to Alabama's definitive food.

Architecture & History

Riverwalk Stadium opened in 2004 along the Alabama River in downtown Montgomery. The park brought affiliated baseball back to Alabama's capital and anchored the emerging Riverfront entertainment district.

The Biscuits name is a playful nod to Southern cuisine. Riverwalk Stadium's design by HKS Architects features a classic brick facade and a berm area overlooking the river, creating a relaxed Southern atmosphere.

Montgomery's rich civil rights history surrounds the park. The Rosa Parks Museum, Dexter Avenue King Memorial Church, and the new National Memorial for Peace and Justice are all nearby.

Insider Tips

01

Order the Montgomery biscuit with sausage and honey. The cathead biscuit — so large it's named for a cat's head — with pork sausage and Alabama wildflower honey is the most on-brand food in all of professional baseball.

02

Civil Rights Heritage

Montgomery is the birthplace of the modern civil rights movement. The National Memorial for Peace and Justice (EJI) is 10 minutes away; Dexter Avenue Baptist Church where MLK preached is 8 blocks.

03

Conecuh Sausage

Conecuh Sausage from Evergreen, Alabama — a pork sausage smoked over hickory with a proprietary spice blend since 1947 — is one of the most sought-after regional food products in the Southeast. Order one at the sausage stand.

04

Parking Reality
