Architecture & History

Whataburger Field opened in 2005 on the Corpus Christi bayfront, designed by Populous to maximize views of Corpus Christi Bay. The park brought Texas League baseball to the Coastal Bend region.

The Hooks name references Corpus Christi's deep fishing culture. The ballpark's naming rights sponsor, Whataburger, is a Texas institution headquartered nearby in San Antonio, making the pairing deeply Texan.

Located on the bayfront near the USS Lexington museum and the Texas State Aquarium, Whataburger Field benefits from sea breezes and Gulf Coast sunsets. The nearby downtown area offers seafood restaurants and waterfront entertainment.
